Cullman - Local businessman, Kenneth Cornelius, announced he will seek the Republican nomination for the office of Cullman County Revenue Commissioner in the May 19, 2026 primary election. Cornelius believes his successful track record as a small-business owner makes him uniquely qualified for the public office. “I will put my 32 years of business experience to work and always place the citizens of Cullman County first,” Cornelius stated. “I believe in a transparent government where taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and citizens are treated with respect.” Cornelius’ business career began as an entrepreneur at the age of twenty-four when he purchased his first business, a Havoline Xpress Lube. He diversified his company into multiple express lubes, car washes, a coffee shop, storage facilities, and various rental properties. He has also been in the cattle business for fifteen years. Cornelius considers himself a conservative Republican. He was elected to the Cullman County Republican Executive Committee in 2010, where he has served as party chairman, party vice chairman, and chairman of the candidate committee. An active member of his local church, Cornelius has been ordained a deacon, and has served on the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for twenty-one years. In 2024, Cornelius became the Cullman County Parks and Recreation Director. He serves on the Cullman County Tourism Board and was appointed to the E-911 Board. He was appointed to the Hanceville City Council in March of 2024. Cornelius is a graduate of Hanceville High School and attended Wallace State Community College. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Tammy Cornelius, for over thirty two years. Kenneth and Tammy have two wonderful children; son Garrett Cornelius and wife Bailey Cornelius, and daughter Townley Cornelius.
